Transcultural Goes Central Asia

UNHCR has tasked Transcultural Campaigning with developing a Regional Communication Strategy for Central Asia and conduct staff training.

From 24 February to 7 March Executive Director Melita Sunjic conducted a fact-finding mission to Dushanbe, Bishkek and Almaty to study the communicating landscape and the rules of political advocacy in the region.

Two weeks later, just as the last paragraph of the communication strategy had been written, the Kazakh President stepped down after 30 years in office. Now, the cards are being reshuffled in Central Asia’s political and economic powerhouse. Let us see how the new political situation will impact on political advocacy and the stakeholders of migration policy.

The next phase of the project includes a round of staff training in Bishkek in late April. An exciting job in an interesting region.
