What looks like a Babylonian tongue confusion is just Transcultural’s multilingual Cairo team in action. Video testimonials of refugees are being synced into English for the Monaco based film association IEFTA.

Authentic testimonials are a powerful tool in information campaigns if one wants to reach out to potential migrants. It is not slogans and messages from outsiders trying to manipulate people, but it is peer2peer discourse.  Social media are the African markets of the 21st century.

For the team, the work involves many  hours of viewing, translating and transcribing footage, adding time codes, checking and re-checking the sync.
