It is the fifth time that Transcultural Campaigning director Melita H. Sunjic conducted a children’s workshop on refugees in collaboration with UNHCR Austria. It was held in the context of Vienna University’s popular summer programme Kinderuni (Children’s University).
A total of 44 girls and boys, aged seven and 12, enthusiastically discussed the issue and shared experiences from school or even their own families.
The young audience listened attentively as Abshir from Somalia told the story of how he came to Austria as a refugee child. At nine years old he was not able to read or write. Today he is about to graduate from (adult) university.
